Billions Of People, Does God See You?

Does God see you? Do you feel like a proverbial ant in a crowd of 8 billion. This song is titled, "Walk With Me." Does God walk with people? There are many God-fearing people who might feel too small for such an ask. God with me? He surely has better things to do, right? Others might know that the Bible talks about God's omniscience, (a fancy word for God's ability to see you and know everything,) but under the weight of "unforgivable" sin, they are sure God stopped caring for them. This song can be viewed as a big ask. The famous poem, "Footprints," tells a different story. It tells a story of God not only walking with a human being throughout their life, but in the darkest of times, even carrying them. This poem has, been a beacon of light to Christians for almost 100 years. You might be asking, a poem is great, but how do i know this idea is true? Good question. Let's turn to the Bible. (Note: When I did this, I had intended on posting a verse or two, but found so many references, I decided to post some of the best...)

  • Isaiah 41:10: ...you whom I took from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest corners, saying to you, “You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off”; fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

  • Deuteronomy 31:8 It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

  • Matthew 28:20 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

  • John 14:15-17 If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

  • Hebrews 13:5-6 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

As you can see God really does care, no... love us! I feel like this has gotten longer than i usually write for a song... However, this song really got me thinking. I hope it will do the same for you. Ben Fuller has many deep songs like this. I hope you check them out. I will end with this, absolutely pray for God to walk with you. And believe that He will!

LYRICS:

Walk with me, Lord

Walk with me

Walk with me, Lord

Walk with me

While I'm on this road

I don't wanna go alone

I want Jesus to walk with me

I've worn the shoes right off my feet

Every mile takes another piece of me

I carry the weight

Of every mistake

Here on my back

It shows on my face

So, I'm down here on my knees

Walk with me, Lord

Walk with me

Walk with me, Lord

Walk with me

While I'm on this road

I don't wanna go alone

I want Jesus to walk with me

Lord, walk with me

Lord, walk with me

Split these tears like a river wild

Watch me run home like a child

I feel these chains are letting go

Oh, sweet chariot, swing it low

Walk with me, Lord

Walk with me

Walk with me, Lord

Walk with me

While I'm on this road

I don't wanna go alone

I want Jesus to walk with me

Lord, walk with me

Lord, walk with me

Lord, walk with me
