Already Done!

Isn't it in our nature to want to work for things? Some of us struggle accepting handouts or gifts, simply because we want to work for what we have. A lot of people that believe in God, seem to be stuck in the law. They are missing that joy and peace that they should have from the life giving gospel. A person like this will go to great lengths to make God happy with them. They are hard on themselves and others for messing up. They often go through the motions in their religious practices, thinking that repeating and performing, is what God wants of them. The big question is this. Isn't God about grace and love? Martin Luther was one of those law oriented people before God showed him the truth in His word. After he was freed by the gospel, he became a completely different person.. He urged pastors everywhere to focus on the gospel, and to make sure that people knew of God's love and grace. We should constantly remind ourselves that Jesus already paid the price. The simple fact is, that we can't work to please God. Our good works are a thank offering to the God who saved us, but they will never be enough to outweigh our sins. I will say it again, we can't earn His love and grace. Forgiveness is already ours! God already loves us, and nothing we do will change that. Neither positively or negatively. The song, "Already", by Rush of Fools, does an amazing job of teaching us about this freeing concept. Say it with me and believe it in your heart, "It's already been done!" Don't let Satan or your guilt drive you to being a law oriented person. Jesus did it all. You are forgiven and free!
