Oceans became a hit back in 2013. Now a landmark song, this beautiful song was the first big hit for Hillsong United's newest singer, Taya Smith. In those days, Taya was doing various jobs at Hillsong Church and had tried out for a TV singing show. She really loved singing and thought maybe this show was going to be her "in" to the secular music world. Call it fate or destiny, but the show didn't accept her. Right around the same time, someone asked her to come in and record some vocals for a couple of new songs for Hillsong United. One of those "vocals" ended up being Oceans. This song went on to be one of the biggest songs in Christian music at that time; even winning song of the year. Taya now had a career, but not in the secular music realm. One could say that Taya was on a journey where God was directing her steps. You could say that failure in the singing show was God's handiwork that led her to be part of Hillsong United. Those events led her to becoming who she is today. Huh... Sounds like some of the lyrics of the song... "You call me out upon the waters, the great unknown..." and "Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me, you've never failed..." and "Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders." and "take me deeper than my feet could ever wander..."

Verses for Consideration:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

Lyrics:

You call me out upon the waters The great unknown where feet may fail And there I find You in the mystery In oceans deep My faith will stand

And I will call upon Your name And keep my eyes above the waves When oceans rise My soul will rest in Your embrace For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters Your sovereign hand Will be my guide Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me You've never failed and You won't start now

So I will call upon Your name And keep my eyes above the waves When oceans rise My soul will rest in Your embrace For I am Yours and You are mine

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders Let me walk upon the waters Wherever You would call me Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander And my faith will be made stronger In the presence of my Savior

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders Let me walk upon the waters Wherever You would call me Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander And my faith will be made stronger In the presence of my Savior

Yeah

Oh Jesus yeah, my God

I will call upon Your Name Keep my eyes above the waves My soul will rest in Your embrace I am Yours and You are mine
