Love Is Deep?

When you think about the word deep, you may think of water. This makes sense, since bodies of water can be thousands of feet deep. How about love? Sometimes love is referred to as deep. For example, "I have a deep love for pizza." Sounds silly right? All kidding aside, have you ever thought about why we refer to God's love as deep? If you try for a moment to grasp the amount of water in the oceans. You could speak of how deep, wide and endless it is. Now apply that to God's love for us. Yes, it is true! God has that much love for us. In fact, His love for us is so immeasurable, that our human minds can't fathom it. This song is usually played a lot during Lent. Why? Lent is supposed to be a contemplative time to remember what Jesus did for us. God's one and only Son, Jesus came, lived a perfect life, and died a unfair death all for love of us. So as we contemplate this great love during this soon to be Easter season, sing this song and meditate on God's love, which is so great, that it is more deep and vast than the ocean!

Verses for Consideration:

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

Lyrics:

How deep the Father's love for us How vast beyond all measure That He should give His only Son To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss The Father turns His face away As wounds which mar the Chosen One Bring many sons to glory

Behold the man upon a cross My sin upon His shoulders Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there Until it was accomplished His dying breath has brought me life I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything No gifts, no power, no wisdom But I will boast in Jesus Christ His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer But this I know with all my heart His wounds have paid my ransom
