Ryan Stevenson became a Christian artist long ago, but pretty much by accident. He was a paramedic for many years. Then a person whom he was instrumental in saving, helped him with funds to create his first recordings. But things really change one day when he traveled to a recording studio to work on some new song ideas. Ryan didn't know this at the time, but he was at a studio owned by TobyMac, and while he was working, who walks in but TobyMac! Toby asked if he could help him finish the song he was working on. This song later became Speak Life. Soon after, Toby was so impressed with Ryan, that Toby signed him on his own label, Gotee Records. And the rest is history! But the song that Ryan is most known for is Eye Of The Storm. This song was birthed out of his time as a paramedic. He really wanted to write a song about a universal human problem, bad things and hard times. We all have them. Ryan wanted his listeners to never forget that God is still God no matter what comes our way. We can know and feel God's love, even in the eye of the storm.
Verse for Consideration:
Luke 8:23-25 ESV
And as they sailed he fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger. And they went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm. He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him?”
LYRICS:
When the solid ground is falling out from underneath my feet
Between the black skies, and my red eyes, I can barely see When I realize I've been sold out by my friends and my family I can feel the rain reminding me
Chorus:
In the eye of the storm You remain in control And in the middle of the war You guard my soul You alone are the anchor When my sails are torn Your love surrounds me In the eye of the storm
When my hopes and dreams are far from me, and I'm runnin' out of faith
I see the future I picture slowly fade away, and when the tears of pain and heartache Are pouring down my face, yes, I find my peace in Jesus' name
Chorus
Interlude
When they let me go, and i just don't know how i am going to make ends meat. I did my best, and now i am scared to death that we might lose everything. When sickness takes my child away, and there's nothing i can do.
My only hope is to trust you, I trust you Lord...
Chorus x2
