Since we live in a fallen world, I have no doubt we have fallen for mistaken ideas of what beauty is. I learned a long time ago from a great Christian speaker, that if we become apathetic to, or just simply accept false ideas of beauty, then we are essentially believing that some people are worthy and important, while the rest are just baggage. We all are aware that passenger jets have different types of "cargo" on their aircraft. Some of the "cargo" is considered first class. Some is considered coach. And the rest is considered baggage. Do you see how often times people are treated the same way? In all societies there are people who are treated as first class and others who are treated as baggage. Christians should know better, but sadly we are sinful and often struggle with this as well. However, when our eyes are opened to this injustice, we can begin to reform our thoughts and actions. Step 1. Reject the worlds idea of beauty. Step 2. We need to explore God's word and pray as we work on this. Step 3. Affect change in this messed up world! Believe that you can make a difference. Start small. Treat someone who is normally treated wrongly, a little bit better than they are used to. When they notice it will open the doors to theological discussions. In the highlighted video below, a youtuber, David, explores the idea of "why am i ugly." (BTW, David or DVIC, has many great cover songs on his youtube channel as well) He points out that "why am i ugly" is a top search result online. While this is a difficult question to tackle, I thought he did a great job. See what you think!
Verses for Consideration:
1 Samuel 16:7 ESV
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
Ephesians 2:10 ESV
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
