Much has been written about living a good Christian life. I am not knocking its importance, but if we are not careful, we will make ourselves very unhappy trying to be perfect. Some people go to extremes to try and be the "near-perfect" Christian. (Amish, Followers of Gothard) I hope you know that living under the law leads to all sorts of problems. While the Bible does talk about avoiding sin and taking the light of Christ into the world, it is important to be living in reality. We are sinful, and just because God forgives us and gives us His Spirit, doesn't mean we will be able get things right all the time. We have to be comfortable in our own skin, and focus on doing the things God has called us to do. This devotion talks about how hard it can be to do the right thing. The Apostle Paul says to not be weary of doing good. Basically, Paul is reminding us that it is God who works in and through us, and He will use our lives, (failures and all), for good things. Finally, when we see those good things happening, we should remember that the glory goes to God!
Verses for Consideration:
Galations 6:8-10 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
