How Important Is Forgiveness?

Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Forgiveness is not an occasional act, it is a constant attitude.” If you have been a Christian for many years, you might be tired of hearing about the importance of forgiveness. Hopefully Not! As long as we live on this sinful earth, we will need to forgive and to be forgiven. I believe a lot of bad things that happen in this life stem from a problem with forgiveness. Whether it's that we can't/won't forgive someone who did harm to us or someone we love, or we, ourselves have troubles believing that God can forgive us, the concern is the same. We need to be cautious. We need to know that either way, the issues which will arise will erode our well being and our happiness. That's why I love this song so much. We get to sing along with a great tune, performed by a great music group, all about how much God loves us! Jesus says, "See my hands and my side?" Jesus went through hell and willingly went to the grave and back, to show how much He loves us! His forgiveness for His people truly does outnumber the drops of the ocean! My prayer is that for you, forgiveness will be known within and seen without, as you live life on this side of heaven!

Verses for Consideration:

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Lyrics:

I want you as you are, not as you ought to be Won't you lay down your guard and come to me The shame that grips you now is crippling It breaks my heart to see you suffering

Cause I am for you I'm not against you

If you wanna know How far my love can go Just how deep, just how wide If you wanna see How much you mean to me Look at my hands, look at my side If you could count the times I'd say you are forgiven It's more than the drops in the ocean

Don't think you need to settle for a substitute When I'm the only love that changes you

And I am for you I'm not against you I am for you I'm not against you

If you wanna know How far my love can go Just how deep, just how wide If you wanna see How much you mean to me Look at my hands, look at my side If you could count the times I'd say you are forgiven It's more than the drops in the ocean

Open your heart It's time that we start again Open your heart It's time that we start again

If you wanna know How far my love can go Just how deep, just how wide If you wanna see How much you mean to me Look at my hands, look at my side If you could count the times I'd say you are forgiven It's more than the drops in the ocean The drops in the ocean

I am for you I'm not against you I am for you I'm not against you
